  • Julie & Julia

    Topic #1:
What a lovely movie. My mom kept saying, "Doesn't it just make you want to cook?" ...no...not really. But it did make me want to blog! ha
It also made me want to DO something -like a challenge for myself....I'm not sure what, but I would like to buy a house and fix it up and have a party in it by ...well...sometime...Maybe my 26th birthday?

The movie also made me think of:
-How I love people with charming personality. They are rare. I want to have a charming personality. Not one that people say is "silly" or "nice," but charming.

-How I love interesting voices. There is something so wonderful about Amy Adam, Meg Ryan, and Julia Robert's voices. I'm sure I am missing some, but as soon as those women speak, I want to listen.

    Topic #2:
What a crazy weekend! Friday night I had a Office Party. A bunch of people came and had a grand time watching The Office and playing my silly games. Everyone brought yummy treats and very encouraging (by words and deeds). Then Sat. I looked at my first 2 houses *wonders how many there will be* with a realtor and my mum. When I started it felt like Christmas, when it ended it felt like opening presents just to find out the batteries did not come with the toy car, the clothes did not fit, and the Grinch took the last can of Who pudding. But, I was soon cheered up by lunch out with my mom and a trip to IKEA =) Once I got back home I took a 4 hour nap and then Corey came over to watch The Office with me. Sunday went to Substance, then picked up my "old nanny kids" and we went for lunch and then to Rock the River. I love pretending to be a mom. The time made me glad I wasn't watching them this summer (Sammy is in to Nerf guns this summer...I'm glad I had him when it was Dinos and Wild animals and Legos) and at the same time it made me miss them...a lot. Then later Mum and I went to see Julie & Julia *see topic 1*

  • Freedom Writers / Freedom in Christ

I've seen Freedom Writers twice and each time it makes me cry. There is pain in life. Death, life unwanted, gangs, being left out, hearing hurtful words, etc. etc. etc. The teacher of the story wants so badly to teach! To give the gift of knowledge. But then realizes that her class is not only anywhere close to grade level, they hate her and being in school. But Ms. G (as the kids call her) figures out that if she gives them a voice and cares for them, that she can give them knowledge, their own voice, and courage to live their lives. The students respond. They are longing for love.

I've read my Bible a lot and some times it makes me cry. There is pain in life. Death, life unwanted, gangs, being left out, hearing hurtful words, etc. etc. etc. The Teacher of the story wants so badly to teach! To give the gift of knowledge about His glory. But He knows that His people are not only anywhere close to being holy, they hate Him and being in the world. But Jesus (as I call Him) knows that if He IS the voice and cares for them, that He can give them knowledge about His kingdom, a voice to talk to God, and courage to live this life to it's fullest. The people have a choice to respond. They too are longing for love.

  • Feeling Cheeky

So last night I read forward from a friend, it was a Qcumbers e-mail that was a coupon for if you voted and celebrating that "the Worst years are over."
Thus, I replied: I read your Vote coupon and was completely offended. If you took one
moment to think about all the people involved in the decisions that
brought us where we are today, you would not be pointing the finger- you
    wouldn't have enough.

I did get a reply, which I was good:

    Becky-

You're right of course. I am very sorry that I offended you and promise
to never talk about politics in an email again. So far the polling has me
at 3 to 1 that I'm an idiot and I really feel like it. Thank you for
taking the time to send me your comments.

    Mickey

How I wish I could stand up and tell ppl. how they should change their lives to help their kids, and have some MORALS for goodness sake! Which makes me wonder- How could Jesus stand not shaking ppl. and telling them "DUDE! I AM IN FRONT OF YOU! IF YOU WOULD JUST STOP ___ AND BELIEVE IN ME YOU COULD HAVE JOY!"

On a completely different note, I have 2 cute kid stories:
Once me and one of my student's sat down on our field trip, he looked up and seeing a man with a big beard he asked, "Is that Jesus?"

Today we are working on transportation. While the class was listening to a song on our CD player, I was putting actions and sounds to different boat names that were being mentioned. CD "Tug boat" Me "toot toot" CD "Cruise ship" Me pretending to steer a ship CD "Ferry boat" Girl "sprinkle sprinkle" (and pretending to sprinkle FAIRY dust). ....yes, Transportation week may take longer than I thought.....

  • Things are looking up!

Yeah God! I have NOT given Him the amount of credit He deserves for all He has done for me. While it was VERY humbling to see all my friends get great jobs and I was "stuck" subbing, I got to meet and do things I never would have been able to do!! Plus, now that I DO have a job, it's all the more exciting!

It's a preschool position in St. Anthony (yes, the town I have lived in TWO OTHER TIMES and now need to move back to), and so far it is going amazingly well!! I have 8-9 little tots, but will be getting more. My assistant is WONDERFUL to work with - she will help in any way and is very good with the kids. Also, I have a corner room with huge windows! It's really nice to like the space that I'm in -considering I'm there most of my day.

The other exciting news is that I get to go on a cruise in January!! It's for a friend's wedding and another friend is going! I will be LONG over-due for a vacation by that time (considering I only have 2 days off for Christmas).
More info later- time for bed
